Once they finish up their encore run of Romeo & Juliet on the Grounds of the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, Appomattox’s Wolfbane Productions (618 Country Club Rd.) will be back to the regular outdoor performance space and to some new tricks. The second production of their summer season is a decidedly racy rock and roll musical that opened off-Broadway in 1998 and won a Tony for Best Revival of a Musical when it finally hit Broadway in 2014. Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which was made into a feature film in 2001, tells the story of a fictional band fronted by an East German trangender rock goddess who’s been forgotten by the world, forsaken by her American husband, and left to her own devices in a small Kansas town. Think Rocky Horror crossed with La Cage aux Folles, or something like that. Tickets are $25, with a $5 discount for students, seniors, and military. The production runs from July 26 through August 11, with performances on most Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Click here or call (434) 579-3542 for tickets and more info.
