From August 1963 until December 1966, Ready Steady Go! brought what was then the new sounds of an emerging musical invasion into homes of hundreds of thousands of British families. Those sounds were made by the likes of the Beatles, the Kinks, the Who, the Hollies, the Merseybeats, and the Stones, and some of their American peers (the Supremes, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, etc…). Not a bad starting point for a playlist. That would seem to be the idea behind Lynchburg’s version of “Ready Steady Go!,” which takes over Dish (1120 Main St.) this evening from 9:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. DJs PatricktheMod and VespaGalBridget will spin a mix of mod Brit-pop, bluebeat ska, ’60s soul, garage rock, and early R&B. There’s no cover, free scooter parking, and gifts for those attired in mod-wear and/or black-and-white checks. Click here for info or call (434) 528-0070.
