Lynchburg Does?

Hello, and welcome to LynchburgDoes.com. We are a small, locally based, independent online publication committed to serving the greater Lynchburg community in a very specific way. It’s all fairly straightforward: We believe that there are lots of things to do in Lynchburg, more than most people probably realize. There are new restaurants opening in the downtown area. There are new businesses setting up shop in formerly empty commercial spaces around the city. There are arts and cultural organizations that continue to do their best to bring music, theater, dance, and even opera to various stages. There are food trucks. Lots of food trucks. And, there are a couple of colleges that regularly open up their campuses to the general public for all kinds of events during the academic year.

We also believe that there are people in Lynchburg who would like to go out and experience what the city has to offer, whether that’s a craft beer tasting at a pizza joint, a local artist playing country, rock, or blues at a downtown bar, or an outdoor film screening in the park. In fact, we’re convinced that there is a critical mass of curious, motivated people in the greater Lynchburg area who would like to know more about what’s going on, and who would be inclined to partake in the city’s cultural offerings.

What seems to be lacking is a central source for reliable information about all of the things that Lynchburg does. So, we’ve decided to create such a source – an easy-to- access hub for thoughtful, entertaining, and perhaps even inspiring events listings that are as detailed, accurate, and up-to-date as possible. We want this to be fun for us, and fun for you. And we could use your help. Come to the site. Read about what’s going on. Sign up to be part of LynchburgDoes.com. Send us comments and suggestions. And, by all means, go out and enjoy yourself.

Also, take the time to let others know when you find out about something on LynchburgDoes.com. Tell your friends, roommates, casual acquaintances, bartenders, business owners, and anyone else who has a stake in proving that Lynchburg does have a lot to offer. If you’re part of a business or an organization that’s doing something in the community, get in touch with us. If you’re a musician who’s playing gigs in town, get in touch with us. If you own a food truck, get in touch with us. If you work at a bar or a restaurant that has something special planned, get in touch with us. If you’re interested in advertising on LynchburgDoes.com, get in touch with us.

We don’t expect this to be easy, but we do think it will be worth the effort. We’ve started with a slate of New Year’s events because, well, the new year seems like a good time start something new. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be doing our best to put out new content on a weekly, or perhaps even daily, basis. If all goes well, LynchburgDoes.com will evolve and expand as the social and cultural scene in Lynchburg does the same.

Thank you for stopping by,
